Taylor Swift booed at Super Bowl by Donald Trump fans
Last night best-selling singer Taylor Swift was booed by a large part of the stadium at the Super Bowl LIX celebration at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The most important sporting event of the year for Americans. Donald Trump, who was the first US president to attend the event, proudly claimed that it was his supporters who were responsible for the booing.
‘The only one who had a worse night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,’ Trump posted on Truth Social, his social network. ‘She left the stadium booed. MAGA (Make America Great Again, the Trump base) is unforgiving! When Swift appeared on the screens with the cameras in focus, she was booed by fans. Although many believe that Eagles fans were responsible for this, Trump took the sporting rivalry into the political arena.
Ever since the country singer publicly endorsed then vice-president Kamala Harris in the presidential election, Trump has openly shown his hatred for Swift. Although this feud dates back to 2018 when the singer began to get more actively involved in politics, supporting Democratic candidates and criticising Trump.
However, at last night's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, both characters were rooting for the same team. The best-selling singer has been romantically involved with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for more than a year. And Trump supports the same team because of his admiration for one of its players, Patrick Mahomes, as he said in an interview on Fox News: ‘When a quarterback wins as much as he has won, I have to go with Kansas City’.
