LaLiga to take legal action over racist abuse of players last matchday
During the match between Espanyol and Athletic Club, Maroan Sannadi was subjected to racist insults by home fans. The referee temporarily stopped the match in the 16th minute after Iñaki Williams reported abuse towards his teammate. An anti-racist message was broadcast in the stadium, warning that if the insults continued, the players would be removed from the pitch. LaLiga is investigating what happened in coordination with the authorities in order to file the corresponding complaints.
Offensive chants at El Sadar
In the clash between Osasuna and Real Madrid, players Vinicius Jr. and Raúl Asencio were the target of offensive chants from the home fans. Although these incidents were not reflected in the referee's report, LaLiga is aware of them through the match director present at the stadium. The organisation is gathering information in order to report these incidents to the Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
Aggression in the vicinity of La Cerámica
In addition to the racist incidents, an aggression was reported in the vicinity of the La Cerámica stadium after the match between Villarreal and Valencia. Two Villarreal fans were attacked by a group of hooded men and required hospital attention. LaLiga is working with both clubs and the authorities to clarify what happened and take the appropriate legal action.
