1. Lawrina is a great law portal, how did this idea come about and what is the real purpose of this offering of information?

Lawrina is a legal portal aimed to improve free access to U.S. law and build an innovative community around lawyers. 

This idea came to us because our founders believe that there must be a great mission behind the business aims. Their previous project was aimed to help with plagiarism in students' work and it did (those projects decreased plagiarism rate in Ukrainian universities from 90% to 14%). Then it was sold to a bigger American company and during the negotiation process our lawyers faced the problem with access to American law, especially on the state level. That’s how an idea of creating the Lawrina portal with free access to legal information came to us. We decided to fight for access to justice by improving access to law first.

The name “Law-rina” comes from two words, “Law” and “Karina”. Karina Pukaniuk is our corporate lawyer, who we appreciate very much. And, yes, we named a portal in her honor! 

Lawrina is powered by a team of dedicated professionals from around the world. Started in 2021, the legal portal has a mission to grow into an informational hub where legal practitioners can learn and more effectively interact with their clients. Since our team members are tech experts we also decided to focus on legal tech as it helps to improve access to legal help. 

In a short-term view, we see Lawrina as an innovative legal portal with all US law you need and a valuable instrument for lawyers to build their authority on the internet. This is our first step to build a Community. And in a long-term view, we see Lawrina as a holistic knowledge base with free access to the U.S. Law and tools for effective lawyer’s work, marketing, and lead-gen. This is our way to Ecosystem.

2. In which areas are you more specialized?

Lawrina specializes in the legal innovations sector as we believe that it will make lawyers happier. With an aim to make legal information in the U.S. more accessible for legal practitioners and easier to comprehend to the public, Lawrina sets up a goal to create compelling content through technology & innovation prism.

Lawrina’s mission is to improve legal practices in the changing world. This mission influences how the portal approaches its content and what it believes is important to present in the articles and visual content it creates.

Innovation in the sphere of law is not only about technology. It is also about the experience, practices and communication lawyers should adhere to when cooperating with clients. It is about legal systems designed for both end-users and legal practitioners, changing the Experience of Law itself. In this perspective, Lawrina teaches lawyers how to deliver and practice innovation in law. To this point, the portal publishes its own researches, e-books, and expert materials.

For example, particular topics we can raise in articles as a part of our Innovation Focus:

• Happiness manager for lawyers and education about mental health
• Obligatory Standards of communication & Structure of communication
• Legal Project Management (LPM) as a process and the new legal profession
• Digital litigation, document flow, integration of the court session schedule with the calendar
• Innovations in legal education: legal tech, new approaches, access to legal knowledge

3. Is the information really intended for a general audience or are you trying to focus more on a specific group?

Our primary target audience for now are legal professionals, that is why our focus is giving value to lawyers by:

• building a community around lawyers
• helping lawyers build authority on the internet
• helping lawyers with marketing and PR
• helping develop in the specific practice area 
• providing free access to the U.S. Law
• promoting legal innovation and technology
• giving a number of tech tools for effective work
• helping lawyers improve their soft skills (T-Shaped lawyers)
• provide a space for lawyers' blogging (Lawyer’s Tribune)

Also, Lawrina is building an active community around lawyers and for lawyers. As a tech-driven platform, Lawrina connects legal experts with their clients through publications, blogging, community marketing, and tech tools. Our goal is to invite top-notch legal professionals to promote cutting-edge practices and develop legal processes in a changing world.

Lawrina allows legal practitioners to share their knowledge at Lawyer's Tribune, a blogging platform for lawyers to boost their online presence. On their blogs, lawyers can discuss recent updates to existing law, legal innovation practices, process management in law firms, productivity tools for lawyers, tips on how to develop skills in a practice area, etc.

Since we believe that innovative approaches must be taught from law school, we are focusing on law students. For example, Lawrina's team, together with Mark J. Sundahl — Professor of Law and the Director of the Global Space Law Center at Cleveland State University, is going to run an open lecture: "To Infinity And Beyond: Space Law 101". More details here.

Moreover, our blog articles help regular people to understand legal issues better and in the future we will target on them as well with ability to find a lawyer on Lawrina. 

4. What are Lawrina's goals and how can Lawrina help you?

Our main goals are to improve free access to legal information and build an innovative community around lawyers and for lawyers. Our vision is to build a holistic knowledge base with free access to U.S. law, an active community inside the portal, and tools for effective lawyer’s work, marketing, and lead-gen. 

This year we decided to focus on taking care of lawyers. What we have done so far:

1) In cooperation with legal innovation experts we created an eBook on lawyers' work and productivity in a new normal.

2) We created our own closed community to help legal professionals share their experiences and get help with building up their online presence. Lawrina Community.You can find the webinar recording here.

3) We did an event on lawyers' mental health and prepared a checklist on stress management for lawyers with an expert (both lawyer and psychologist).

4) Since we believe that an innovative approach must be taught from the law school, we focus on educational content. We launched a Free open lecture about space law.

5) We are preparing a Life Balance Wheel for lawyers to help them check the level of wellness and get tips on its improvement. It will be a pie chart where each slice represents a significant category of a legal professional’s life.

5. What future projects does Lawrina have?

We are a young project, but developing very fast! In the future, Lawrina will be a legal innovations ecosystem with:

• Holistic base with free access to US law and smart search through it;
• Portal with articles on different legal topics and possibility of blogging for lawyers;
• An active community around lawyers and for lawyers;
• Marketplace for lawyers with gamification functions, to get them connected with clients;
• Legal tech instruments for lawyers productivity;
• Lawrina Live platform with possibility to create and host online events, and many more.

But now, when we only started to build an ecosystem, we aimed to put our resources for gathering all US law on both federal and state level and build our own base, as well as developing a community of lawyers, who will become experts of our portal.
