Linklaters launches e-learning programme with Forage to bring US students closer to the law
More and more law firms are making use of technological tools to enhance the talent of their employees. In this case, we will describe the virtual programme launched by Linklaters, in partnership with Forage, with the aim of encouraging law students in the United States to take an interest in law.
Through this virtual programme, participants will be able to perform tasks designed to simulate the daily work of an associate at the Linklaters firm. In other words, through this platform, they will be able to test the skills that the firm considers necessary for a lawyer to have.
This programme has a content that can be completed in 6 hours and works under e-learning technology, providing a learning tool for students.
This innovative programme is open to all students and is free of charge. It does not require participants to have any prior legal knowledge.
Through this initiative, Linklaters aims to break down the barriers that exist between the legal profession and students.
"Our e-learning programme in the US helps to demystify big law and offers an insight into the work of a Linklaters lawyer. We hope that by making it available to anyone, anywhere in the US, we can inspire students who are curious about pursuing a career in law," explains Linklaters' US recruitment partner Antonia Sherman.
One of Linklaters' flagships is the practice of technological and innovative tools. In 2019 it collaborated again with Forage to offer a similar virtual experience to UK students, with this tool also being expanded in Hong Kong.

Why this programme
Many students will undoubtedly wonder what the benefits of participating in this e-learning programme will be. As a first positive point, students interested in studying law will be able to experience first-hand the working day of a lawyer, which in itself provides practical content that is very close to the real thing.
At the same time, this programme awards a certificate to students who complete the programme, which is a positive feedback for the incipient professional career of these students.
The programme offered by Linklaters includes the following content: advice to a non-US client on how to carry out a transaction in the United States, evaluation of the contract in question, drafting the clauses of the contract, determining the appropriate clauses for the client, planning or not planning the financing of the contract.
In short, through this virtual programme, participants will learn how Linklaters' lawyers manage the aspirations of their clients, as well as how to foresee the most beneficial terms of a contract for their clients. In other words, they will get to know the day-to-day life of a lawyer.
